Coda: A Beach Da

And after breakfast, Mom, Dad, and me went to the beach, and I brought my pail, and I made big pies with the wet sand, and pretended I was a baker in my shop. I put shells and pebbles in the pies and made bows with strips of green stuff that shined in the sun. And a huge wave crashed, ha!, and swallowed all my pies! Then Dad said, “That can’t be right. There’s always time for more.” And Mom said, “It’s too late; you know it. Too late.”
