As a young reader: Beverly Dunlop's "The Poetry Girl", Sheryl Jordan's "Rocco", Maurice Gee's "The Halfmen of O", Katherine Mansfield. More recently, Margaret Atwood, Anne Carson, Janet Frame, Lynn Jenner, Selina Tusitala Marsh.​

In Ann's own words, these pieces "refer to the upcoming September to June concert, ballet, opera, and museum exhibit season in New York City, where I grew up but no longer live.
