What was the first book you remember picking up and reading by yourself?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

What writer(s) or which book(s) influenced your decision to become a writer?

The Stranger by Albert Camus.

Is there a writing craft book that you would recommend to new writers?

Body Work by Melissa Febos.

Is there a writer who has influenced your current writing style?

T Kira Madden. 

Why write flash fiction?
​
Capturing a feeling in an art form so self-contained is a challenge I truly enjoy.  

What advice would you give someone who is just starting to send their work out to journals?​

Not every editor is going to be your audience. A rejection is not a reflection of your work. Keep submitting; your writing is valid. You will find your reader. 
​

Mea Cohen’s work has appeared in West Trade Review and more. In 2024, she was nominated for best micro-fiction. She earned her MFA in creative writing from Stony Brook University, where she was a Contributing Editor for The Southampton Review. She  is the Editor in Chief for The Palisades Review.
