Interview with Pia Quintano

The attached paintings hopefully tell a surrealistic story. The subjects appear in a kind of dream and in the case of Tiger Milk, the subject is morphing into something else. The dog in Lost is also a lost idea, or an idea that has suffered and the self-portrait in I Dreamed I Blew a Bubble is the attempt at creating a tangible image. It Has Gone To My Mind depicts the confusion and distress of the subject as she attempts to grasp at the meaning of her life and experiences a lack of purpose.

NYC-based writer/painter who often suggests narratives with her artwork. Her paintings were sold at the Frank J.Miele Contemporary American Folk Art Gallery in NYC until it closed. Her artwork has appeared in Glass Mountain, Peatsmoke, Saranac Review, Emerson Review, Red Ogre and Harpur Palate among other journals. She shares an apartment in the city with a small menagerie consisting of a platinum cocker spaniel and two blue budgies.
