Recurrence

The cause of the war was, of course, that thing. And if you recall, at the time, that thing was in great demand. Several entangled alliances formed in mutual pursuit and defense of that thing, and due to a particular subsection or clause of some agreement signed in triplicate, the pursuit of that thing became intertwined with the defense of it, causing the world to trip and drop everything it was holding. All of that thing, everything they craved, chased, and killed for, fell and lay scattered everywhere, drying in the sun to its death.
