NUNUM - Blending Flash Fiction & ArtInterview with Phebe JewellPhebe we all start out as readers, so I am curious what was the firstFor the book that made a big impact on me most recently, it's a toss up
Between Tommy Orange's novel There There or Jesmyn Ward's Sing, Unburied, Sing. As an artist things pop in your head at the strangest times, pen, pencil or phone, which one do you reach for when you need to write something down? In a pinch, when inspiration strikes and I've got to get words on the page before I forget them, pen and paper are my best friends. What advice would you give someone who is just starting to send their work out to journals?Advice for folks just starting out: Keep writing. Keep writing. Keep writing. Develop think skin and learn from any feedback you might receive from editors. Remember that editors receive more good work than they can publish. Keep writing. Keep sending work out. Read past and current issues of journals before you send out your stories to them to see if your style, subject matter, and voice are a good fit for their publication. Remember: you write because you love to write, because you have stories to tell only you can tell. NUNUMBlending Flash Fiction & Art
