Interview with Travis Stephens

Travis Stephens gave our Summer 2022 issue a wonderful gift when he sent his flash fiction piece 'Newly Fallen' our way. Luckily, we were able to sit down with Travis recently and pick his brain a little about writing.

Why write flash fiction?

To challenge yourself to capture a moment and tell its story in as few words as possible.

Who are your go-to writers when you need something to read on holiday? 

Louise Erdrich, William Gay, Tim Gautreux, and John Sanford.

What advice would you give someone who is just starting to send their work out to journals?

Work turned down is not a rejection, it is just not right for that publication at that time. It will find a home. Send it out again with a pat on its little behind.
